PFF Donates to Help Food Distribution

When South-coast-based charity Warming Up the Homeless asked us if we could donate packaging to help them distribute meals, we were very happy to step in.

The charity usually uses around 1,000 containers every month but has seen a significant rise in the number of those in need across Hastings, Eastbourne, and Bexhill.

PFF was approached by a volunteer who told us that one of the charity’s core activities is distributing food to people living on the streets. This is alongside providing sleeping bags, groundsheets, survival sheets, blankets, clothing, and toiletries, together with kindness, emotional support, and signposting on where to get help.

Warming Up the Homeless has partnered with local supermarkets that provide surplus food, which is used to make warm, nourishing meals by a team of volunteer cooks. What they needed was a supply of takeaway containers. Ian Smith, Group Sales Director liaised with Tim Ake, our Process Engineer at Washington to commission the production of an extra 1,500 tubs and lids.

Trudy Hampton, CEO for Warming up the Homeless said: “We are very grateful for PFF’s generosity. These items will be used by our home cooks to transport hot food from the oven, straight to outreach in our catering hot boxes to ensure food is kept at the correct temperature.”

Ian said: “We recognised straight away the fantastic work that the charity does, and we were keen to help.”
